Here are some favorite artists. Most are quite rare recordings or performances -- hopefully, some excerpts you have not heard before. Feel free to share your comments on these artists.
I have a great admiration for Eileen Farrell, Nan Merriman, Lois Marshall, Maureen Forrester, Peter Pears, Léopold Simoneau, Hermann Prey, and Benjamin Luxon, among others. It is a rare gift to be a good recitalist and these artists are that and so much more!
Every attempt has been made to not violate any audio or visual copyrights. I have deleted more than half of the files uploaded to try and be observant of all copyright issues. If there is any file that is questionable please tell me and I will gladly delete it.
For many years I have been involved in the art of ikebana - Japanese flower arrangement. As you can see, my arrangements fall into a modern free-style. I hope you become acquainted with this great art form and lifestyle.

He actually recorded a fair amount for HMV (Grieg, Wolf, Bach, Brahms....) Hopefully, more from this singer will surface! I....

Thierry de Brunhoff interview (Paris, 1967)
It would have been better in English, most of the cast is British except the tenor who is American.
Thank you. I’m always happy for another Wozzeck.
💝 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Extraordinary song "Au cimetière", didn't even remember having heard a version of it. Wondering how his articulation of these french texts would sound like in reality. Amazing singing, but that I knew already.
He’s very good, but no Fischer-Dieskau!!
Melancholia is so well described in Tristesse.
🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Have this on an original Gala Records LP. Lovely to hear it again. 🎉 I also had the wonderful Sparky the magic piano… need to look that one up.🥰
Absolutely wonderful...R.I.P. •♫♪♫•*¨*•.¸¸👌🙏
professional control of the voice
R.I.P. Benjamin Luxon
I have to practice the presto part on 0.75 × speed. He truly is amazing. How can he even tongue that fast 🫢
Bravo!
I had always thought that "An die Musik" was the only first-rate song that Schubert fashioned from a poem by Franz von Schober. ("Pax Vobiscum" is at best second-tier Schubert). But "Am Bach im Frühling" is a wonderful song. Hotter sings it magnificently as he does all the other songs in this recording. Schubert made two settings of the von Schober poem. Hotter uses the first version, which I consider the better one.
BRAVO, MAESTRO!!!
That may be one of the most moving performances of this piece I've ever heard.
A wonderful voice, a truly fine singer. Hertha Topper.
I was in the chorus of this. Ms. Quivar did a wonderful job and was very nice.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bravo, Picchi.
Henry Weman at the organ of Uppsala cathedral for the Jonsson songs.
What a voice! Love her ❤
What a great voice. Listening to him after hearing the news of his death. Rest in peace!
R.I.P. Ben, and thanks for the music, 25 July 2024.
R.I.P. Benjamin Luxon.
Listen to the cantabile pedal part!
such a wonderful singer/artist.
RIP 😢
I can't imagine this lyric baritone singing Duke Bluebird! I find the voice very beautiful.

Have just heard that Ben died this morning, July 26th 2024. He was such an important part of my family’s life, so full of life, love, talent and energy and I really thought he would outlive us all. 💐❤️🕊️❤️💐
Thanks!
I have enjoyed these songs, but just found out doing my family tree that Norma ( Mary ) Procter was my 6th cousin what a wonderful find
What superb, rare, and lovely repertoire! Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!
Everything she does is so beautiful.
That’s a gorgeous voice and some gorgeous singing.
This is terrific! Thank you so much!
Maravillosa. Gracias.
Thank you!
(А. С. Пушкин) 👏🙌
Four and a half months later, William Kapell was dead - killed along with 18 other people (8 crew members and 10 passengers) in a BCPA commercial-jet plane crash on 29 October 1953, as the plane made its initial approach to San Francisco International Airport. He was returning to the U.S. from a concert tour of Australia.
Meravigliosa Sayão ! Grande Forrester ! Ideale Cluytens !
Thank God for creating people differently, life would be very boring and black and white with heterosexuals
A really wonderful recital by a somewhat forgotten singer these days. What a beautiful timbre he displays here, and there is nothing mannered or artificial about the performances. The current generation of lieder singers would do well to listen to this.
Thanks for this. Footage of Desmond Dupre is all too rare. Self taught lutenist & viol da gamba player, an early music pioneer no one mentions. Still my favourite lutenist despite all the many who've come since. The most eloquent touch.
What's with all the weird out-of-time pauses that make the orchestra sit on a chord?
Hello KadoGuy Thank you for psting these recordings. I studied with a few of them ( Kraak en Altena) but my first and favorite teacher was Adi Le Gue, I see you have another recording of a Ravel Opera with Le Gue. Do you know of any other recordings with Adi Le Gue?
I will be posting several songs sung by Adi le Gué in the future.
What a wonderful
incredible performances, you understand evry word and get exiting drama...
Norman was one of the kindest, most decent men and one of the greatest singers I ever knew. I was lucky enough to have him as my voice teacher and after my own 32 year international career, due in a large part to Norman’s guidance, I strive now to pass on his wisdom to my own students. Dearest Norman….never to be forgotten. ❤
